Amazon has unveiled its first smart lock, the Ring Smart Lock, which features a unique manual charging mechanism. If the battery dies, users can generate power by turning the thumb-turn dial a few times, allowing for emergency access. The device is expected to launch in the US in early 2027 for $249, pending FCC approval.
The lock includes a fingerprint reader, a backlit touchscreen keypad, and supports temporary access codes. It connects via Amazon's Sidewalk network rather than Wi-Fi and uses a replaceable Quick Release Ultra Battery Pack. It will be available in black, silver, and brass finishes.
Additionally, Amazon introduced several new security cameras. The Indoor Cam 4K is priced at $99.99, while the Outdoor Cam 4K Plus, Spotlight Cam 4K Plus, and Floodlight Cam 4K Plus are available for preorder at $149.99, $199.99, and $219.99 respectively.
The lineup also includes a new entry-level Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam 2K, available for $69.99. This model features 360-degree rotation, 175-degree tilt, and computer vision-based motion tracking. Both the new 4K and 2K indoor cameras include a physical privacy shutter for the lens and microphone.
