Amazon is preparing to launch new tablet models that may feature significant hardware upgrades. Import documents indicate the development of a device equipped with an unreleased MediaTek MT8793 processor, which is expected to support up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The company is also testing a device featuring the MT8188J chip, a processor previously utilized in the 2023 Amazon Fire Max 11. These upcoming tablets may mark a shift in software strategy, as reports suggest Amazon is exploring a transition from its proprietary Fire OS to a version of Android based on AOSP.

This potential move toward AOSP could provide users with broader access to applications and features currently restricted by the Fire OS ecosystem. The company has already begun implementing its new Vega OS on several Fire TV products, signaling a broader effort to refine its software approach across hardware lines.
