Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company (AIUC) has secured $40 million in a Series A funding round led by Ribbit Capital, with participation from First Harmonic. This latest investment brings the total capital raised by the startup to $55 million, following a $15 million seed round led by Nat Friedman in July 2025.

The company provides a certification standard known as AIUC-1, which evaluates AI agents against approximately 5,000 risk and attack scenarios, including data leaks and hallucinations. Audits are conducted quarterly using AI-driven testing, with final verification performed by human experts to ensure security and reliability for enterprise deployments.

The startup was founded by Rune Kvist, formerly of Anthropic, and Rajiv Dattani, who previously worked at McKinsey and the nonprofit METR. Their current client list includes companies such as Eleven Labs, Anysphere, Harvey AI, KPMG, Lovable Labs, UiPath, and Fin. A consortium of over 250 security leaders from Fortune 1000 firms supports the standard.

AIUC plans to utilize the new funding to expand its auditing and insurance services from AI applications to frontier AI models. The company aims to establish a comprehensive ecosystem for oversight, addressing the security bottlenecks that currently delay the enterprise adoption of advanced artificial intelligence systems.
