Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company (AIUC) has raised $40 million in a Series A funding round led by Ribbit Capital, with participation from First Harmonic. This brings the startup's total funding to $55 million, following a previous $15 million seed round.
The startup was founded by Rune Kvist, an early Anthropic employee, and Rajiv Dattani, former COO of the AI safety research organization METR. AIUC provides third-party audits and certification for AI agents, targeting enterprise customers including Cursor, Lovable, Harvey, and ElevenLabs.
AIUC developed a security standard called AIUC-1, created with input from a consortium of approximately 250 security and risk leaders. The company subjects AI agents to a suite of about 5,000 tests to evaluate performance in scenarios involving jailbreaks, hallucinations, and data leaks.
The testing process results in a report of approximately 100 pages detailing the safety and reliability of the agents. While AIUC utilizes AI to conduct tests and analyze data, human experts verify the final audit results.
