Agility Robotics has introduced Digit 5, a new humanoid robot designed for warehouse and factory operations. The machine features enhanced safety capabilities that allow it to function alongside human workers without the need for protective fencing. It utilizes integrated sensors and AI to detect people, automatically stopping or moving aside when necessary, while also providing visual and audio warnings.

The robot is the first to utilize Nvidia's Halos safety platform. Digit 5 offers a payload capacity of 22.7 kg, which represents a 40 percent increase over the previous model. It stands 1.81 meters tall and weighs 129 kg. The device features swappable grippers to accommodate various tasks, such as loading machines or handling bins.

Technical specifications include a battery system that requires 9 minutes to charge, providing 90 minutes of operation. This cycle supports over 20 hours of daily work. The company reports that its predecessor, Digit 4, accumulated over 65,000 hours of operation with clients including Amazon, GXO, and Schaeffler, achieving 98 percent accuracy in bin movement at GXO facilities.

Agility Robotics has secured orders exceeding $300 million for its robotic systems. Production takes place at a facility in Salem, Oregon, which has a capacity of up to 10,000 units annually. The company plans to begin initial deliveries in early 2027, with distribution scheduled to include the European Union market.
