The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has introduced the Clean Trucks Program to assist fleet operators in transitioning from diesel to electric vehicles. The initiative provides $3 million for the Clean Fleet and Freight Concierge Service and $935 000 through the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act.

A new funding opportunity allows operators to cover up to 45 percent of the costs for replacing diesel-powered class 5-8 trucks with electric models. The state is currently seeking firms to manage the concierge service for small and medium-sized fleets in the Northern and Southern regions.

The state has also launched an interactive map featuring over 450 public electric vehicle charging stations. This tool includes filters for Level 2 and DC fast-charging ports, incorporating data from the Driving a Cleaner Illinois Program and the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program.

Additionally, the ninth round of funding, supported by the Volkswagen settlement, provides up to $18 million for all-electric class 4-8 local freight trucks. Interested parties can access application details and funding notices through the Illinois GATA portal.
