YouTube has introduced a new 'Made with AI' label for music tracks that are either fully generated or significantly altered by artificial intelligence. This initiative mirrors the existing labeling system already implemented for video content on the platform.
The policy specifically targets tracks where generative models were utilized to create compositions or vocals. Partners uploading music are required to disclose the use of such tools. If a creator fails to provide this information, YouTube reserves the right to identify AI-generated content using its own detection systems.
The labeling feature is currently rolling out within the YouTube Music application and will be extended to the main YouTube app in the future. Users can access additional details about the production process by tapping the label directly on the playback page.
The broader music industry is adopting various approaches to AI content. Spotify has introduced a voluntary labeling system, while Apple Music is reportedly developing similar tags. Meanwhile, platforms like Deezer allow users to filter out AI tracks, and Bandcamp has implemented a complete ban on AI-generated music.
