The Russian Ministry of Digital Development assisted Yandex in securing backup facilities to relocate critical infrastructure following drone strikes on three of its data centers. Minister Maksut Shadaev confirmed the government's involvement in the emergency migration process.
The affected data centers are located in the Ryazan, Kaluga, and Vladimir regions. Yandex has not disclosed the specific locations where its computing power is being moved, citing security and operational privacy.
The company stated that it has maintained a distributed infrastructure and backup systems for several years, which include the use of independent third-party sites. Efforts to relocate remaining systems are ongoing.
Recent attacks caused service disruptions across several platforms, including ride-hailing, food delivery, payment systems, and AI development tools. Most services within the Yandex Cloud platform have since been restored.
