Yandex has updated its caller ID service for iPhone, introducing a real-time verification system for incoming calls. The new mechanism is available exclusively for devices running iOS 18 or later.
Previously, the service relied on a local database updated every four hours. The new approach sends encrypted requests to a cloud database, which is updated with new data within 10 minutes. This change aims to reduce the window of opportunity for scammers, who typically rotate their phone numbers every 78 minutes.
Users can configure the service via the Yandex Browser or the Yandex app with Alice AI. The settings allow for selecting specific categories for automatic blocking, including fraudulent calls, silent calls, and unsolicited financial or commercial service offers.
