Yamaha has introduced the 2027 NMAX E, an electric sport scooter designed to match the performance of 125cc combustion engine models. The vehicle is built on the company's new compact eAxle drive unit, which utilizes a belt drive to deliver power to the rear wheel.

The electric motor provides a nominal power output of 6.7 kW, peaking at 7.5 kW, with 33.3 Nm of torque. It is powered by a fixed 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery mounted centrally in the chassis. This configuration offers a range of up to 104 km based on the WMTC Class 1 testing cycle.

The scooter features an onboard 800W charger compatible with household outlets and AC Type 2 public stations, requiring approximately 5.5 hours for a full charge. Riders can select between Sport, Touring, and Eco modes, with the system also supporting regenerative braking.

The NMAX E is equipped with traction control, ABS, 245mm disc brakes, and 13-inch wheels. Additional features include a five-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, keyless ignition, LED lighting, and storage space under the seat for a full-face helmet.

Yamaha intends to launch the NMAX E as a 2027 model for the European market. Specific pricing details and exact availability dates for the new electric scooter have not yet been disclosed by the manufacturer.
