XPeng Group has been elected as the secretary-general of the newly established Task Force on Exchange of Scenario-Related Information (TF-ESRI) under the UNECE GRVA/WP.29 framework. This marks the first time a Chinese company has held a secretary-general position within the core framework of United Nations autonomous driving regulations.
The appointment follows XPeng's efforts to integrate its intelligent driving technologies into international standards. The company intends to represent the Chinese automotive industry in global collaborations and share its experience in the development of autonomous driving systems.
In July, XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng conducted local acceptance tests for the second-generation VLA model of the Turing AI intelligent driving system in Germany. The system demonstrated high adaptability to European road conditions, including urban main roads, narrow alleys, and complex curves, without requiring significant additional data training.
The second-generation VLA model is capable of recognizing European road signs and navigating local traffic regulations. XPeng aims to become the first Chinese company to bring advanced intelligent driving assistance to the European market, utilizing a unified model for both Chinese and European operations.
