Xpeng launched its Yoyo robotaxi service in China on October 8, initiating an invite-only pilot program. The fleet, based on the GX SUV, has already completed over 2,200 trial rides conducted by company employees.

The vehicle utilizes four proprietary Turing AI chips providing 3,000 TOPS of computing power. It operates on the VLA 2.0 vision-based system, which functions without lidar or high-definition maps, and is designed for Level 4 autonomous driving.

Users access the service via a dedicated mini-program, which allows for cabin adjustments such as temperature control and fragrance activation. The vehicle features zero-gravity seats, massage functions, and a rear entertainment screen.

Xpeng began regular road testing in January 2026 and received remote-testing qualification in Guangzhou in August, allowing operations without a safety driver on specific roads. The company has also developed a cloud-based remote takeover platform.

The company aims to reach break-even at the individual vehicle level in Guangzhou by the second half of 2027. Xpeng is currently discussing partnerships in Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, with plans to introduce a dedicated robotaxi model in 2027.
