Xiaomi has launched a crowdfunding campaign for the Door and Window Sensor 3 on the Xiaomi Youpin platform. The device is priced at ¥44, which is approximately $6.57. The campaign is scheduled to conclude on October 19 at 10:00 local time.

The new sensor utilizes a magnetoresistive component based on tunnel magnetoresistance, replacing the Hall effect sensor found in the previous model. This technical update aims to improve response speed and reduce power consumption. The device is powered by a CR2032 battery.

The manufacturer claims an autonomy of up to three years, which is three times longer than the previous generation. The Mi Home application provides notifications when the battery level is low. Remote monitoring and alert functionality require a Bluetooth Mesh gateway.

Users can track the status of doors and windows, view event history, and monitor the frequency of openings. The sensor supports automation scenarios via Xiaomi Surge Smart Connect, such as controlling lighting or climate systems, provided these are configured in the Mi Home app.
