Recent reports suggest that the budget for Hideo Kojima's upcoming project, PHYSINT, is substantially lower than the previously circulated figure of $400 million. Journalists Jason Schreier and Jez Corden, citing sources familiar with the contract, indicate that the actual investment from Xbox is only a fraction of that amount.

The initial $400 million estimate likely refers to a prior agreement between Kojima Productions and Sony PlayStation. According to reports, Sony canceled that deal, citing concerns over the project's development schedule and budget, though the studio has disputed these claims regarding the game's progress.

The partnership between Xbox and Kojima Productions was officially announced on September 9. Beyond the game itself, the current agreement reportedly encompasses licensing rights for film and television adaptations, as well as updated terms for the project known as OD.

While the exact financial details remain undisclosed by the parties involved, the project's status continues to evolve. During the Tokyo Game Show, the companies unveiled the official cast and promotional poster for the title, although a specific release date has not yet been established.
