Wuhan Tong has officially launched support for Apple Pay, allowing iPhone and Apple Watch users to utilize public transit services. The service enables users to top up their transit cards at any time, with a minimum recharge amount set at $4.20 (30 yuan). Notably, there is no card issuance fee for Apple users.

In contrast, Android users are required to pay a service fee for the virtual card. Currently, users of Huawei, Honor, and Xiaomi devices see a standard fee of $3.50 (25 yuan), which is discounted to $2.10 (15 yuan). This fee is non-refundable and is collected by the transit operator rather than the device manufacturers.

Wuhan Tong representatives explained that the discrepancy in fees stems from the high costs associated with technical adaptation and system maintenance across various Android brands. Due to the lack of unified technical standards among Android manufacturers, the company incurs higher expenses for integration compared to the Apple ecosystem.

The transit operator is currently exploring options to offer promotional card issuance slots for various smartphone brands in the future. Users are encouraged to monitor official Wuhan Tong channels for updates regarding potential changes to the fee structure or new discount programs.
