Microsoft reports that recent updates to Windows 11 have increased system responsiveness by up to 20 percent. These performance gains stem from optimized memory management and more efficient use of system resources across core components like Start, File Explorer, Search, and Edge.

The company specifically addressed performance on devices with 8GB of RAM or less. By keeping up to 2GB of additional active data in memory rather than offloading it to storage, the system frees up resources for user applications. For instance, Widgets now load on demand, reclaiming over 200 MB of memory.

Updates also include functional changes such as a more flexible taskbar, faster Windows Hello authentication, and improved Bluetooth pairing, which is now up to 15 seconds quicker for devices like AirPods. Additionally, the company has reduced the intrusiveness of Windows Update.

Microsoft is currently testing a new, faster search experience for Windows Insiders. The company plans to release this feature to a wider audience later this year as part of its ongoing effort to improve reliability and the overall operating system experience.
