Microsoft has moved into the final stages of preparing the Windows 11 26H2 update. The core ESD installation file, identified as build 26300.9457, has been detected on the company's internal servers. This development typically indicates that the official rollout could begin within the next few days or even hours.
The 26H2 update is scheduled for release in 2026. Unlike previous feature updates, this version focuses primarily on system stability and improvements to enterprise management capabilities rather than introducing new features for general consumers. Users can access the update early through an enablement package.
Enterprise users will see two key features enabled by default. The Point-in-time Restore function will be active on all PCs, allowing the system to roll back to a previous state in the event of errors. Additionally, Windows Settings Backup will be enabled to facilitate the backup and migration of organizational settings.
ESD, or Electronic Software Distribution, is the compressed format Microsoft uses to distribute installation images. While it serves as a foundational component for creating ISOs or bootable media, these files are not directly available for download by regular users. Updates are typically delivered via official ISO images or Windows Update.
