WhatsApp has introduced four major updates to its group chat functionality. Users can now pin messages indefinitely, removing the previous time constraints for pinned content at the top of the chat interface.
The platform has also updated how chat history is shared. Administrators can now grant new members access to previous messages after they have joined the group by selecting the user's name. These shared messages remain protected by end-to-end encryption.
New status features allow users to post updates specifically for individual groups, such as family chats or interest-based communities. These group-specific statuses follow the standard 24-hour expiration rule and support member reactions.
Finally, a new filter for unread messages has been added. It allows users to isolate notifications where they were directly mentioned or replied to, including mentions via the @all command, to streamline communication management.
