Volkswagen plans to release a new entry-level electric vehicle in 2027, with a starting price of approximately €20 000. This model is part of the Electric Urban Car Family, a lineup designed to compete with Chinese manufacturers. The vehicle will be based on the MEB+ platform and is expected to feature a 37 kWh LFP battery, similar to the base versions of the ID. Polo and ID. Cross.
The upcoming car measures 3 880 mm in length and offers a luggage capacity of 305 liters. Technical specifications include a 70 kW electric motor and a top speed of 130 km/h. The manufacturer guarantees a minimum range of 250 km. This vehicle is one of nine new models that the Volkswagen Group intends to introduce to the market by 2027.
The company has not yet confirmed the production location for the new model, though reports suggest it could be manufactured in Spain. Currently, Volkswagen produces other vehicles in the Electric Urban Car Family at its plants in Martorell and Navarra. Since production began in June, the group has already secured nearly 150 000 orders for the existing lineup.
