Volkswagen Group China introduced its integrated technology matrix, VEGA, during the company's inaugural Technology Day. The automaker is transitioning its strategy from 'In China, For China' to 'In China, For the World,' aiming to leverage local innovation for global operations.
The company currently exports Volkswagen and Jetta models produced in China to markets including the Middle East, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and sub-Saharan Africa. Plans are in place to expand these exports to Mexico, Egypt, and Vietnam by the end of 2026, with further expansion into ASEAN, South America, and Africa expected in the coming years.
Volkswagen is integrating its CMP platform with the CEA electronic and electrical architecture to support localized development across new energy, internal combustion, and hybrid vehicles. South America is set to be the first region to adopt these Chinese-developed technologies by 2030, with subsequent rollouts planned for South Africa.
