Volkswagen has launched mass production of the ID. Cross electric SUV at its plant in Navarra, Spain. The facility now assembles four models from two brands, including both internal combustion and electric vehicles. To prepare for this shift, the company conducted over 290,000 hours of employee training.
The ID. Cross is built on the MEB+ platform and shares a production line with the Skoda Epiq. The vehicle measures 4.15 metres in length. It is available with two battery options, 37 kWh and 52 kWh, and three powertrain variants offering 85 kW, 99 kW, or 155 kW of power.
The model features the new Group Unified Cell in a Cell-to-Pack design and the APP290 electric motor. The 37 kWh battery supports charging up to 90 kW, while the 52 kWh version reaches 105 kW. The WLTP range is estimated at up to 316 kilometres for the smaller battery and 436 kilometres for the larger one.
In Germany, the ID. Cross starts at €27,995, though this version will be orderable in October. Currently, only higher-end trims are available, starting from €36,525, or €34,025 with a temporary incentive. The vehicle is set for release in 34 countries.
