According to leaked reservation emails, Valve is set to initiate a lottery system for its Steam Frame VR headset on September 17. Industry reports suggest that pre-orders for the device may have opened as early as September 14, following a pattern similar to the previous Steam Machine release.

The Steam Frame, officially unveiled in March 2026, serves as the new flagship for Valve's hardware ecosystem. It features dual 2160x2160 LCD displays with a refresh rate ranging from 72Hz to 120Hz, plus an experimental 144Hz mode. The device weighs approximately 440 grams and relies exclusively on wireless streaming for PC VR content.

Storage options for the headset include 256GB and 1TB UFS configurations, with additional support for microSD cards. Valve has also integrated a 'Great on Frame' category into the Steam platform, which included approximately 89 verified games by late August. Furthermore, code suggests that buyers might receive the game Half-Life: Alyx as a bundled offer.

Valve has already distributed review units to testers as of August and recently updated the SteamVR Beta with a new interface inspired by the Steam Deck. The company is also planning a dedicated VR game promotion on Steam, scheduled to run from September 14 to September 21.
