Valve has announced the release of its Steam Frame headset, capable of running flat and VR games locally or via PC streaming. The device is available in two storage configurations: a 256GB model starting at $1,059 and a 1TB version priced at $1,299. Every unit includes a copy of Half-Life: Alyx, which has been ported to run natively on the hardware.

Potential buyers must sign up for a lottery system by September 17th at 10AM PT. Winners will be notified and granted the opportunity to purchase the headset on September 18th, with a 72-hour window to complete the order. Those not selected will be placed on a waitlist.

Valve is also offering several accessories, including an ergonomic kit for $59, a replacement parts kit for $49, and a separate charger for $29. Additionally, the Arcturus Vision Camera, priced at $149, provides color passthrough and spatial video recording capabilities.

The company plans to release an enthusiast kit in the future, featuring a modular head strap, upgraded audio, and a secondary magnetic battery. The Steam Frame follows the earlier 2026 launches of the Steam Controller in May and the Steam Machine in June.
