The CEOs of Micron, Microsoft, and AMD met with the US president at a White House lunch. This event continues a trend of frequent meetings between leaders of major American technology companies and the administration amid ongoing trade tensions with China.
Nvidia reported losses of $2,5 billion linked to H20 chip export restrictions. Both AMD and Micron are currently navigating similar regulatory constraints that limit their ability to supply advanced semiconductors to the Chinese market.
Major tech corporations have announced significant domestic investment plans. Meta and Apple have discussed commitments of $600 billion each, while Microsoft intends to increase its annual capital expenditure to $80 billion, focusing on AI infrastructure.
The administration aims to boost domestic manufacturing and job creation through these investments to decrease reliance on foreign production. Micron previously faced a ban on its products in Chinese critical infrastructure in 2023, while AMD faces restrictions on high-performance AI accelerators.
