President Donald Trump has signed an executive order mandating that all US federal agencies transition to the term Super Intelligence and the abbreviation SI. This directive replaces the previously used term Artificial Intelligence and the acronym AI in official government communications, including reports, websites, and public statements.
The new terminology requirement applies to all administrative documents and official correspondence. However, the order does not mandate changes to existing contracts, historical records, or current legislative acts. Legally, the definition of SI remains consistent with the existing legal framework for artificial intelligence.
The administration stated that the shift reflects the evolution of modern technologies, which now extend human capabilities rather than merely simulating them. The Assistant to the President for Science and Technology has been tasked with submitting proposals for potential legislative updates and amendments within 60 days.
