Microsoft is preparing a cumulative update for Windows 11, scheduled for release on October 13. The update will be available for versions 24H2, 25H2, and 26H2, though support for 24H2 will conclude following this release.
The File Explorer will receive improvements, including HTML file previews in the pane after network warnings and automatic PDF previews. The Home page will now remember user-defined layout configurations, and the Details pane will feature enhanced cloud file thumbnails.
A new accessibility feature allows users to set applications to launch in maximized mode by default via the Visual Effects settings. Additionally, the Magnifier tool now supports precise zoom percentage inputs and features a redesigned interface for better layout consistency.
For AI+ PC devices, the Copilot key configuration now includes options for the right-click menu and the right Ctrl key. The update also introduces a Tips widget and allows the Windows Recovery Environment to utilize saved Wi-Fi profiles for easier network access.
Further changes include improved wallpaper switching, optimized Bluetooth and audio processing, and support for DIB images and Emoji 17.0. Conversely, the PC-to-PC migration feature will be removed, and additional keyboard shortcuts will be blocked in kiosk mode.
