Unity Technologies has introduced official plugins for Claude Code and OpenAI Codex. These tools aim to provide coding agents with verified skills maintained directly by Unity teams, addressing the issue of AI agents relying on obsolete tutorials and forum posts for outdated engine versions.

The Codex plugin includes 31 specific skills covering areas such as 2D graphics, user interfaces, physics, audio, navigation, multiplayer, and localization. Additional features allow agents to set up new projects with version control and migrate existing projects to the URP render pipeline.

The plugins are compatible with Unity 6 and newer versions. Users can install the Codex version through the official plugin directory, while the Claude Code version is available via npm. This integration follows a trend of using language models to operate complex software like Blender and 3D scene generation tools.
