Unitree Robotics CEO and CTO Wang Xingxing announced three strategic development directions for the company during the 2026 World Physical AI Conference in Hangzhou. The company aims to scale its manufacturing capabilities to meet future market demands reaching tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of units.
The second strategic pillar involves a hybrid approach of self-development and partnerships to deploy small-scale physical AI models optimized for Unitree hardware. Simultaneously, the company is building a self-evolving system for its robots. This framework utilizes a closed-loop process of AI research, simulation training, real-world testing, and feedback iteration to replace manual debugging.
To accelerate technological progress, Unitree is launching the World Physical AI Competition. The company plans to invest tens of millions of CNY annually in prize money for the event. The competition is open to global teams and individuals, featuring eight categories including combat, dexterous manipulation, sports, and healthcare.
