Tesla has launched mass production of its Optimus humanoid robots at the Fremont facility in California. The company confirmed that the current manufacturing process is suitable for commercial output, with the robots meeting production quality standards.
The Fremont plant is designed for an annual capacity of 1 million units. Additionally, Tesla is preparing a second production line at the Gigafactory in Texas, which is expected to reach a long-term annual capacity of 10 million robots.
Elon Musk stated that the production line will require approximately one year or more to achieve a target output of 20,000 robots per week. The company plans to integrate the AI5 chip into Optimus, with development expected to conclude by April of next year.
Tesla aims to resolve remaining challenges regarding robot design, reliability, and service life by the end of 2027. Following these improvements, the company intends to make Optimus available to the general public and companies outside of Tesla.
