Secondary market platforms are selling AI tool credits at significant discounts, such as 5,000 credits for ¥8.8 instead of the official price of ¥250. Some sellers report sales exceeding 2,500 units for these services, which are marketed as internal channels.
The process involves users downloading scripts that modify local software configurations to redirect traffic to third-party API relay servers. Experts warn that these scripts grant remote access to client devices, exposing sensitive data like code, documents, and meeting minutes to interception and resale.
Tencent WorkBuddy confirmed that these methods do not add official credits but instead connect users to external models. The company has updated its security policies and is actively banning accounts associated with these unauthorized configurations.
Security analysts note that these relay stations often use stolen API keys from legitimate accounts. Users face risks including rapid, unexplained credit depletion, account bans, and the potential compromise of proprietary data processed through these unverified third-party servers.
The Ministry of State Security has issued warnings regarding AI relay stations, advising users to utilize only official, authorized platforms. Recommendations include anonymizing sensitive data before processing and immediately changing security keys if suspicious activity or data anomalies occur.
