Ubisoft has launched a new internal division called Motherbrain, dedicated to integrating generative artificial intelligence into its future gaming projects. The initiative is designed to accelerate the development of gameplay innovations and will be implemented across as many company projects as possible.

The new structure is led by Xavier Manzanares, a long-time Ubisoft veteran who joined the company in 2004. Previously, he served as a producer for various titles and oversaw AI-related projects such as Teammates and Neo NPC. His new role places him at the center of the company's technical strategy.

According to internal communications, Motherbrain is tasked with developing specialized technologies and middleware for AI-driven gameplay generation. These tools are intended to serve as a unified platform for all Ubisoft studios, streamlining production processes across different departments.

The importance of Motherbrain to Ubisoft's leadership is comparable to that of its core creative houses and primary service divisions. Employees from various departments have confirmed that the use of generative AI is expanding rapidly and currently impacts all stages of the game development cycle.
