TypeSafe AI, a San Francisco-based startup founded in 2024, has secured approximately $870 million in a Series A funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz. This investment values the company at $7.5 billion. The deal was announced on October 9, 2026, less than four weeks after the company exited stealth mode.
The company previously raised a $40 million seed round led by DCVC, which valued the business at approximately $200 million. The rapid increase in valuation follows the launch of the company's first model, Jev. The model reached over one million users within days of its release and is currently utilized by about one-third of Fortune 500 companies.
Jev is designed to process typed questions, delivering structured outputs intended for software integration rather than human interaction. The model operates with a latency of under 100 milliseconds and is marketed as a cost-effective alternative to general-purpose large language models.
The leadership team at TypeSafe AI includes CEO Diogo Almeida, CTO Erik Gafni, and COO Sasha Sheng, with prior experience at OpenAI, Google Brain, and Meta FAIR. Following the successful launch of Jev, there is already early investor interest in a potential future funding round exceeding $1 billion, targeting a valuation above $10 billion.
