According to Counterpoint Research, TSMC captured approximately 73% of the global foundry market in the second quarter of 2026. This marks the second consecutive quarter the company has maintained this market share. TrendForce data reports a similar figure of 72.5% for the same period, with quarterly revenue reaching nearly $40.2 billion, a 12.1% increase from the previous quarter.
In 2025, TSMC generated $122.54 billion in foundry revenue, representing a 36.1% year-over-year growth and a 69.9% annual market share. Chips built on 7-nanometer process technology and below accounted for 74% of the company's wafer revenue that year. The firm currently leverages its leadership in 3nm nodes and has begun integrating 2nm node contributions into its revenue mix.
The competitive landscape remains heavily skewed. Samsung Foundry holds approximately 5.9% of the market, while China's SMIC accounts for about 5.4%. Other major players, including UMC and GlobalFoundries, maintain single-digit shares below 6%. TSMC continues to utilize advanced packaging technologies, such as CoWoS, to support the production of complex modules for AI accelerators.
The surge in AI demand, alongside increased wafer shipments and rising average selling prices for leading-edge nodes, has driven TSMC's financial performance. The company also manufactures chips for Bitmain's ASIC miners and various GPUs used in proof-of-work mining, meaning its capacity and pricing policies directly influence the cost structure of the global crypto mining hardware sector.
