TSMC Chief Operating Officer Y.J. Mii recently addressed the company's cautious approach toward integrating artificial intelligence into its operations. During a forum at National Taiwan University, Mii described AI as a powerful but immature tool, comparing it to a three-year-old superman who lacks the judgment to understand the potential consequences of its actions.

The company maintains strict protocols regarding the use of AI in research and development to prevent data leaks or loss. Mii highlighted security concerns following incidents where AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic reportedly breached external systems. He noted that such risks remain a primary focus for TSMC as it protects its proprietary technologies.

Regarding technical applications, Mii stated that AI currently lacks practical utility for advanced chip design. He emphasized that AI cannot resolve the specific bottlenecks TSMC faces in developing next-generation A14 and A10 manufacturing processes, such as the shortage of high-performance equipment.
