THORChain is preparing to relaunch its Rujira App Layer following a security incident. The network upgrade v3.21 is scheduled to address a vulnerability in the Rujira FIN contract that led to a platform pause in late September 2026.
The patch targets block height 28,366,100, which is expected to occur on October 23, 2026, between 13:40 and 15:20 UTC. The update requires approval from node operators to restore trading, lending, and automated strategies.
The exploit, detected on September 26, 2026, involved unauthorized transfers of a liquidity position held by the Rujira team. No user funds were lost during the incident, and the App Layer was suspended on September 27.
Upon activation, the upgrade will restore support for SOL and ZEC trading, limit swaps, and bRUNE staking. Rujira also intends to propose a conditional 24-hour grace period for positions with a loan-to-value ratio exceeding 100%.
