THORChain has suspended native Zcash swaps following a technical error in the outbound transaction matching process. The incident, which occurred on October 19, 2026, resulted in the deduction of approximately 140 RUNE from the bonds of 18 node operators.

The protocol confirmed that no user or vault funds were affected by the bug. The losses were absorbed by node operators, consistent with the network's bonded security model. The issue specifically involved how the protocol processes outbound ZEC transactions.

Trading of ZEC remains paused until the deployment of the v3.21 network upgrade. This update is scheduled for release around block height 28,366,100, projected for October 23, 2026. Native ZEC support was recently introduced on October 2, 2026.

This follows a separate incident on October 9, 2026, when Tether blacklisted approximately 1.45 million USDT across four THORChain TRON vaults. That event caused a three-hour disruption to related swaps and liquidity services.
