The Browser Company announced that the Arc browser will officially cease operations on December 22, 2026. The company intends to reallocate its engineering and security resources toward the development of a new AI-focused browser called Dia.

Starting November 23, 2026, the mobile versions of Arc Search on iOS and Android will lose access to AI features, including the Browse for Me tool. Users will also lose the ability to log into their accounts or synchronize tabs across devices.

By the December deadline, the desktop versions of Arc for macOS and Windows will become completely unusable. Additionally, the Android version of Arc Search will be removed from the Google Play Store, and all account synchronization services will be permanently disabled.

The decision to shut down Arc stems from the rising security costs associated with maintaining a browser in the AI era. The company plans to transition its focus to Dia, which is positioned as an AI-first browser that will incorporate core features from Arc.

Dia will retain familiar interface elements such as vertical sidebar tabs, Profiles, pinned tab groups, folders, and split-screen browsing. Users can migrate their existing data, including passwords, bookmarks, extensions, and history, to the new platform.
