Tether has led a pre-seed funding round for Peso, a Bolivian fintech startup focused on developing payment infrastructure for USDT in Latin America. The financial details of the investment, announced on October 21, 2026, remain undisclosed.

Peso provides users with application-based accounts for saving, investing, and cross-border transfers. In Bolivia, the platform connects to the banking system via QR codes and ACH networks, enabling direct conversion between stablecoins and local bank balances.

The startup has integrated USDT payments into the Yango digital services platform, allowing users to pay for services like food delivery. Peso is now expanding its operations from Bolivia into Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina.

This investment follows other recent moves by Tether in the region, including a $3 million seed round for Plenti in September 2026 and a $20 million investment in Ualá in July 2026.
