Tesla reported 1.74 million active Full Self-Driving subscriptions in its Q3 2026 shareholder letter, representing a 67% increase year-over-year. This metric includes both monthly subscribers and customers who previously purchased the software outright before the one-time purchase option ended on February 14, 2026.
The company stopped selling FSD as a one-time purchase in February 2026, shifting to a subscription model priced at $99 per month in the United States. While the active count excludes free trials, it includes all vehicles with lifetime access purchased prior to the policy change, provided the vehicle remains active.
Tesla also reported that over 75% of new vehicle deliveries in North America included FSD subscriptions during Q3 2026, marking a 20 percentage point increase compared to the previous quarter. The company added 260,000 net subscriptions during this period, which it identified as its strongest quarter for this metric to date.
The reporting methodology for FSD subscriptions and cumulative vehicle deliveries, which reached 10.2 million, aligns with the criteria set for the 2025 CEO Performance Award. This compensation package includes milestones such as 10 million active FSD subscriptions and 20 million vehicle deliveries, with the agreement remaining in effect until 2035.
