During the latest earnings call, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company is significantly ramping up vehicle production to meet demand that currently exceeds manufacturing capacity. Musk highlighted the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system as the primary catalyst for this growing consumer interest, asserting that no other vehicle on the market offers a competitive equivalent.
Tesla is actively pursuing regulatory approvals for FSD in international markets. The system has already received permits in several European countries, though Musk noted that obtaining full European Union authorization is a complex process. He expects approval could arrive within a few months or potentially by the first quarter of next year, depending on regulatory timelines.
Looking toward long-term growth, Musk projected that the humanoid robot sector will eventually become the largest industry globally, with the population of robots potentially surpassing that of humans. The company plans to address key technical challenges, including AI performance, mechanical design, and reliability, by the end of next year, at which point Tesla intends to begin supplying Optimus units to external companies.
