Tesla has extended the operating hours of its driverless Robotaxi service in Austin to 21 hours per day. As of November 8, 2026, the service is available to passengers from 5 AM to 2 AM. The remaining three-hour window is dedicated to vehicle maintenance and charging.
The company previously operated the service from 6 AM to 2 AM. This shift follows a series of incremental updates throughout October 2026, which included extending hours to midnight on October 17 and to 2 AM on October 29 and 30.
Tesla aims to achieve 24/7 operations by the end of 2026. Ashok Elluswamy, VP of AI Software, stated during the Q3 2026 earnings call that continuous service depends on final software optimizations for the unsupervised Full Self-Driving technology.
By the end of Q3 2026, the fleet had accumulated nearly 2 million unsupervised miles. Alongside the schedule expansion, Tesla introduced new features including trip sharing, accessibility options, rear camera feeds, and a Calm Mode for passengers.
Tesla is currently expanding its autonomous ride-hailing network across Texas and Florida. The company is competing with rivals like Waymo, which already maintains 24/7 operations.
