Tencent has officially announced the closure of its Sogou Wenwen platform. The service, along with its integrated marketplace, is scheduled to cease operations on November 7, 2026, at 23:59. This decision follows a strategic adjustment of the company's business operations.
Users are advised to redeem their virtual points, known as 'Wen Dou,' before the shutdown deadline. These points hold no cash value and cannot be transferred to other accounts. Any remaining balance will be forfeited after the service terminates.
The platform recommends that users back up their personal content, including questions and answers, via screenshots or manual copying before the closure. Following the shutdown, all remaining data will be deleted or anonymized in compliance with the Personal Information Protection Law.
Sogou Wenwen, originally launched as Soso Wenwen, served as an interactive Q&A community for knowledge sharing. Its closure reflects a broader shift in user behavior as generative AI tools, such as DeepSeek and Doubao, replace traditional manual Q&A models.
