Tencent has officially launched the Tencent Hy Translate application, which is powered by the proprietary Hy-MT2 translation model. The service is available as a standalone app, a mini-program, a browser plugin, and a desktop version. Users can access the tool by searching for the service name across these platforms.

The translation engine supports 33 languages, including five Chinese minority languages and dialects. Key features include real-time voice translation, image-based text recognition, and an offline mode. The offline functionality allows users to download the model directly to their mobile devices, ensuring stable performance in areas with limited or no internet connectivity.

The application is currently available in 12 countries and regions, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, as well as Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. The underlying Hy-MT2 model was originally open-sourced in May, offering improved performance in instruction following and professional domain translation compared to the previous Hy-MT1.5 version.

The Hy-MT2 model is designed for mobile deployment, with the smallest version requiring only 440 MB of storage space. This optimization allows for efficient local processing on smartphones, supporting the app's offline capabilities and overall translation accuracy across diverse real-world scenarios.
