TDK has unveiled the Micronas HAR 3025, a dual-die position sensor engineered for safety-critical automotive and industrial tasks. The device is specifically designed for electric power steering, steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, and high-voltage traction motor commutation. It features two independent dies housed within a single 4 x 4 mm QFN24 package, ensuring synchronous signal generation for system-level plausibility checks.
The sensor complies with ISO 11452-8:2015 standards for stray-field suppression, eliminating the need for magnetic shielding. It is rated as ASIL D ready under ISO 26262:2018, with each die maintaining full functionality and compliance if the other fails. Integrated diagnostics monitor critical parameters, including supply voltage, temperature, and configuration registers, with fault detection triggering high-impedance output states.
The HAR 3025 supports 360-degree angle measurement at speeds reaching 60,000 rpm. It operates on a 3.0 to 5.5 V supply within a junction temperature range of -40 to 170 degrees Celsius. Designers can adjust amplifier bandwidths from 4.6 kHz to 70.5 kHz to manage delay and noise. Static calibration limits angular error to 0.6 degrees, while dynamic compensation can reduce this to 0.1 degrees.
Samples of the new sensor are currently available for testing. TDK has scheduled the start of mass production for the first half of 2027.
