Engineering firm Dürr has launched the EcoMeter XS, a compact microdispensing unit designed for the automated application of adhesives and sealants. The system targets manufacturers of electric motors, batteries, and electronic components, offering a solution for tasks where traditional piston-based systems reach their performance limits.
The device utilizes continuous-dosing technology, allowing for uninterrupted material application without pauses for refilling. It supports flow rates between 0.00005 and 1 cm³/s. The unit is compatible with material supply from both cartridges and hobbocks, providing flexibility for various production requirements.
Weighing between 0.8 and 1.6 kg, the EcoMeter XS is suitable for integration with robotic systems, axis gantries, and robots with low payload capacities. Its modular design allows users to adjust configurations based on specific material viscosities, component geometries, and required application volumes.
A centralized control system manages all dosing and process functions to streamline operations. According to Dürr, the unit is particularly effective for creating thermal bridges in round battery cells, where applying 0.1 cm³ of material to the cell surface establishes necessary thermal contact.
