Synthesia, a startup specializing in AI-generated avatars, has reached a valuation of $4 billion. The company reported annual recurring revenue of over $100 million in the previous year. Headquartered in the UK, the firm recently expanded its operations with a new office in New York.

The company offers three primary product lines: a video creation platform for scripted content, an agentic platform for interactive roleplay sessions, and an API platform for custom integrations. These tools allow enterprises to build interactive training videos and sales practice simulations.

The technology stack for these avatars integrates voice-to-text, agentic language, text-to-voice, and video animation models. While Synthesia provides its own proprietary models, customers may also choose to integrate third-party solutions from providers such as Cartesia, ElevenLabs, Google, or OpenAI.

Enterprises have the flexibility to host their avatar deployments on their preferred cloud infrastructure or utilize Synthesia's hosting services. The interactive avatars can be configured as deterministic agents, restricted to answering specific questions based on provided training data.
