Synopsys and OpenAI have entered into a multi-year strategic partnership to develop the GPT-Synopsys model. This collaboration integrates OpenAI’s artificial intelligence capabilities with Synopsys’ electronic design automation (EDA) tools and agentic AI technology.
The new model is designed to function as a native expert user within EDA workflows. It allows engineers to delegate specific design tasks to AI agents, which interpret results, implement necessary changes, and iterate through design cycles to optimize power, performance, and area (PPA).
Under the agreement, OpenAI will receive access to Synopsys’ EDA software suite. The companies plan to collaborate on research and development, as well as joint go-to-market strategies, utilizing a shared revenue framework to manage the partnership.
