Superpose Labs, a startup founded by former TikTok executives and computer vision experts, has launched its AI-powered photography app, Superpose. The tool functions as a real-time AI coach, providing users with guidance on body positioning and composition before they take a photo.
The founding team includes the former product lead for the TikTok Creator Marketplace and a former TikTok technical lead who co-founded Bellus3D, a company later acquired by Meta. The startup has secured early-stage funding from the Silicon Valley venture capital firm Khosla Ventures.
Unlike post-processing tools, Superpose operates during the shooting process. It uses on-device vision and AI to scan the environment, lighting, and human silhouettes. The app then suggests four optimal poses tailored to the specific scene, displaying skeletal overlays directly on the camera screen.
The app features scene recognition algorithms that adjust pose recommendations based on the setting, such as indoor, street, or nature environments. This real-time guidance is designed to help users align subjects with on-screen guides, reducing the need for retakes and professional photography skills.
Superpose is currently available for iOS users. The company plans to expand its library of scene-based pose models and introduce additional real-time interactive features in future updates.
