The Sui Foundation and Mysten Labs announced a partnership with OpenAssets on October 1, 2026. The collaboration aims to implement the Open Tokenized Asset Standard (OTAS) within the Sui ecosystem to standardize interfaces for identity, compliance, metadata, and settlement.

OTAS is an open-source, protocol-agnostic framework designed to enable portable compliance records and ownership histories. By allowing asset documentation to move across different networks, the standard seeks to prevent the fragmentation of tokenized assets on incompatible ledgers.

This initiative follows the Sui Foundation's entry into the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust (LFDT) on September 24, 2026. Within this organization, Sui collaborates with entities such as Swift and Wells Fargo to develop common industry standards.

Sui previously developed its own tokenization tools, including the Permissioned Asset Standard (PAS) and modules for fractional ownership and programmable compliance. The network's object-centric architecture supports these features by treating individual assets as distinct items with attached metadata and rules.
