The Stacks ecosystem report for Q3 2026 reveals that approximately 735 BTC were bonded during the first two mainnet staking periods. The initial Genesis Bond, which launched on September 10, 2026, secured 230 BTC. A second bond, opened around October 10, 2026, attracted 505 BTC, reaching its capacity.

Liquid staking played a significant role in the second round, with 483 BTC staked via the Stacking DAO stBTC token. This mechanism allowed users to maintain liquidity for decentralized finance applications while earning yields. Institutional participants included 21Shares, HashKey Cloud, UTXO Management, and Sypher Capital.

The network also saw a 25% increase in native STX token staking following the PoX-5 hard fork on July 30, 2026. Staked STX volume grew from 392 million to 493 million tokens. Since the 2021 launch of the Proof of Transfer consensus mechanism, Stacks miners have committed over 4,200 BTC to the network.
